Link: Information on Local Scholarship Opportunities

Visit myscholarshipcentral.org to find local Kansas City scholarships. My Scholarship Central connects students to financial resources for college. Students are matched to local scholarships and interest-free loan programs after completing a general application. There are so many opportunities for Missouri students. You must make an account, but this is a great resource for finding scholarships for the Kansas City area.

The Senior Office will be open for students to inquire about local scholarships, help with applications, and any other questions that may come up during post-secondary planning.

Check back at the beginning of second semester for updated scholarships and deadlines.

Important information is also found on the Senior Class calendar. The link to the calendar will be sent weekly to Seniors and their families. As this is your student's senior year, weekly updates are sent to get as much information to the students as possible.

How will my student send their transcripts to colleges?

We use a platform called Naviance to send transcripts to universities, colleges, and even the NCAA Eligibility Center. Do not request a transcript unless you have submitted an application. Those transcripts tend to get lost, as they have no student file to attach to. Also, remember to request your final transcript to the school of choice during senior obligations in May. You will need a final transcript for your college, the military, and many Unions. The Senior Office works very hard to get all final/A+ transcripts sent by the end of May.

The current graduating class and current students needing a transcript need to request one through Naviance. The current graduating class will not be considered former students until the new school year begins in August. If you need assistance, please access the Naviance Quick Guide to Requesting Transcripts. If you have questions, please contact Sabra Hamberg at sabra.hamberg@raypec.org or call (816) 892-1414. Example of how to request transcript.

MCC-Longview

Occasionally, some colleges only accept transcripts in the mail. MCC-Longview is an example. After requesting your transcript, according to what type of student you are, your transcript will be mailed. Expect that it will take 2-3 weeks to process. If you are needing one sooner, please consider coming to pick one up from the high school. MCC-Longview will accept a sealed transcript hand delivered.

A+ Transcripts:

Your A+ seal will be on your final transcript when you complete all A+ requirements. This is how colleges know that you are A+ eligible. You must remember to request a final transcript to the school of your choice. This will be done through Naviance beginning in mid-April of the graduation year.

How will my school get my AP/IB/ dual credit course credit?

Please go to AP, IB, Dual Credit Course for information. Those credits will come from AP or the college that your course was obtained through.

How will my student get their graduation items ordered?

Caps, gowns, stoles, tassels, announcements, and other graduation items are ordered through Jostens. There will be an assembly in the Fall to give students information packets and introduce some of the popular items ordered. Jostens will be at the school during lunch shifts to take care of orders. Orders will also be able to be made online at thegraduationcenter.com. Graduation orders need to be in by January 1st to guarantee they are ready before graduation. Orders such as apparel, keychains, tassels will be delivered to the Senior Office as they come in. Announcements will be delivered in March and April. Caps and Gowns will be delivered during lunch shifts the first week of May. If you do not have a lunch shift at the school, your announcements and caps & gowns will be left in the Senior Office after the lunch dates. A sibling or parent is permitted to pick up your items. All-day LEAD Center students will have their items sent to the LEAD Center for distribution.

How does my student get graduation tickets?

Seniors will receive 7 tickets for graduation guests. The tickets will be distributed during lunch shifts the first week of May. Graduates must sign for their tickets and show ID. Only graduates may pick up their graduation tickets. If the student does not have a lunch shift, is virtual, or is an early graduate, they will need to make time to come up to the Senior Office to sign for their tickets after the lunch dates are finished. All-day LEAD Center students will have their tickets sent to the LEAD Center for distribution.
