What is the Graduation Rate?

The student graduation rate is calculated by data submitted through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education core data platform. The score is calculated based on the percent of students who complete an educational program that meets the graduation requirement of 24 credits. Students may complete the requirements in 4, but no more than 7, years in Missouri.

The graduation rate shows how many students finish high school and get their diploma, usually in four years, but sometimes more. If your child stays in school, works hard, and graduates, they’re counted in this percentage.

The dropout rate, on the other hand, shows how many students leave high school before finishing, without going to another school or joining the military. This is the percentage of students who don’t complete high school.
