Jennifer Ramirez will move to a new role as Administrative Intern for alternative programs in the Ray-Pec School District, effective in July. The Ray-Pec School Board approved the hiring at its April 25 meeting.
Ramirez is currently an English teacher at Ray-Pec Academy, a position she has held for 5½ years. This year, she has also served as the Administrative Intern for the Virtual Instruction Program of Ray-Pec (VIPR). She has also served as Summer School Principal for the past three years. Earlier, she was a principal’s secretary in the Grandview C-4 School District and a substitute teacher for grades K-12 in the Grandview and Ray-Pec school districts while she completed her degree.
Ramirez said she is looking forward to taking on a bigger leadership role in supporting students who have not had success in the traditional learning environment.
“There are so many exciting opportunities and learning strategies at Ray-Pec Academy and Success Academy with real world learning that will continue to make Ray-Pec a district of choice for so many families,” she said.
In commenting on Ramirez’s move to the full-time administrative intern position, Dr. Kristel Barr, Chief Academic Officer, said, “We are thrilled to have Mrs. Ramirez as an administrative intern at the Academy campus. Having been a teacher there, she brings a wealth of historical knowledge that will aid the Academy in continuing to move forward in real-world and project-based learning. She will complement Mr. Meyers and Dr. Farris well.”
The District reviews student data and building needs to determine which schools are supported by an administrative intern. Ramirez will support Ray-Pec Academy, working with incoming Principal Skyler Myers, and Ray-Pec Success Academy, working with Principal Dr. Kristie Farris.
Ramirez, a 2005 Ray-Pec graduate, earned her bachelor’s degree in education from University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. She received her master’s degree in educational leadership from Park University.
Ramirez and her husband, Alberto, own and operate El Dorado Mexican Restaurant in Raymore. They have two daughters who attend Ray-Pec schools. Hailey, 14, will attend the Ninth Grade Center next year, and Clara will enter first grade at Creekmoor Elementary School. “We love being part of the Raymore-Peculiar community,” she said.
