Dr. Steve Moore will be the new principal at Ray-Pec South Middle School, effective in July. The Ray-Pec School Board approved the hiring at its May 6 meeting.
Moore comes to Ray-Pec from the Lee’s Summit School District, where he has been an Assistant Principal at Lee’s Summit North High School for the past two years. Before becoming an assistant principal, he taught in the district for four years. He also taught in Pleasant Hill and Independence.
Moore said he is thrilled to be joining the South Middle School Wolfpack next year.
“I am excited to work alongside everyone and make connections with our kids and staff,” he said. “I am committed to bringing energy to our building and instilling a strong sense of community and belonging for all. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and learn about their hopes for the year ahead. It’s a great day to be a Wolf!
Dr. Glenna Bult, Director of Secondary Education, said she is excited to have Moore join the secondary administrative team.
“His enthusiasm and positive energy is contagious and well suited for the middle school setting,” she said. “We are looking forward to having him at South Middle School. "
Moore received his bachelor’s degree in English education and his master’s degree in education administration from Missouri State University. He earned his doctorate in educational leadership, policy analysis, and foundations from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
He will replace Stacy Johnson, who is moving to a teaching position at Ray-Pec High School for the 2024-2025 school year.
Moore and his wife, Eva, live in Greenwood with their two children, Nora (10) and Truman (6).
