Seniors at Ray-Pec Academy in Jennifer Ramirez' class have been exploring the food service industry. They have been focused on learning what it takes to be an entrepreneur, branding a business, and building empathy for local business owners and their experiences. Students have been able to work with a local client, touring their facility, helping brand their food truck, collecting customer data, and helping create a menu based on customer requests and cost analysis. They have also been learning about the Portrait of a Ray-Pec Graduate, striving to be strong communicators, collaborators, and critical thinkers. Students were able to earn an Industry Recognized Credential while working on their project as well. The group took a trip to the Cass County Health Department in Harrisonville, took their exams, and 100% of them earned their permits. Real World Learning opportunities like these are one of many ways that Ray-Pec strives to be a School District of Choice and help students find gainful employment opportunities during high school and beyond. Students pictured include: JoVaan Arthur, Libby Atkinson, Elijah Boyd, Mekhi Boyd, Dominick Brenson, Mason Cooper, Reagan DeDonder, Alyvia Dwerlkotte, Karessa Lemen, Davion McKenzie, Isabella Mendenhall, Natalie Murray, Trinity Plumb, Camille Prickett, Mazie Shideler, Alex Suarez, and Janaya Turneur. 🌟 Happy National Custodian's Day! 🧹🪣 Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate the unsung heroes who keep our schools clean and safe. 💪🧽 Behind the scenes, custodians work tirelessly to ensure we have a clean and pleasant environment to learn, work, and thrive in. They are the ones who make sure our spaces sparkle and shine, even when we're not looking. ✨ To all of our custodians, we are incredibly grateful for all that you do. 🙌❤️ #NationalCustodiansDay #ThankACustodian

We kicked off the 2023-24 school year with a bang this morning! 💥 All Ray-Pec staff filled the high school gym for convocation and to celebrate the beginning of another wonderful school year. "This morning, our celebration is all about the dreams of our students. Students are coming to us wanting to have a successful and meaningful life. That’s our mission. And that’s their dream. It is our job to make that dream possible. All of us, and I mean anyone in this room employed or in an elected leadership role of the Ray-Pec School District, has the duty to deliver on or support the mission of our school district. Everyone. Our theme for this year is that we are all 'Dreammakers.'" At the end of the ceremony Superintendent, Dr. Mike Slagle, asked all staff who were committed to being "Dreammakers" for students to stand. What a scene. 🖤💛

Media Makers Studio, the latest summer camp at the LEAD Center, is under way! Middle school students will be working with local businesses to develop promotional plans and marketing materials to promote their business. Real World Learning and early career exploration are just some of the ways the Raymore-Peculiar School District is becoming a School of Choice. Today Bobbi Bond, owner of Baked by Bobbi, stopped by with her cookie truck to let students decorate and eat some of her delicious cookies while they discussed ways that they could help her expand her business. Business partners like Bobbi are an invaluable resource to our students. Thanks Bobbi! 🍪
