The new Head Coach is Ali Jo Locher. Coach Locher comes to us from Warrensburg High School where she has been the head softball coach for the past three seasons. Prior to coaching the Warrensburg Tigers, Coach Locher was a graduate assistant softball coach at UCM where she was also a former collegiate softball player for the Jennies. Coach Locher is among the UCM softball greats according to the record books. You'll see Coach Locher among the single-game, season and career leaders in multiple categories. Coach Locher made the All-MIAA three times as a player and is the only Jennie to be awarded the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year Award. Coach Locher will be coaching physical education at Ray-Pec East Middle School.
Coach Locher's Varsity Assistant Coach will be Coach Shelby Prather. Coach Prather is coming to us from Slater High School, where she was the Varsity Assistant Softball Coach working primarily with pitchers and catchers. Prior to coaching the Slater Wildcats, Coach Prather played softball at Missouri Valley College after graduating and playing at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. While a player at NEO, the Lady Norse set a school record for career wins and reached the NJCAA National Tournament in consecutive years. Coach Prather will be teaching sophomore English at Ray-Pec High School in the fall.
Coach Locher will have two returning assistant coaches. Coach Brandon Ransom, Avila University baseball alumni and freshman American History teacher at Ray-Pec High School, and Coach John Heinemann, UCM wrestling alumni and Ray-Pec High School weights and physical education teacher.
Please introduce yourself to Coach Locher and her staff at camp July 18-July 20.
