Did you know? Students who are involved in activities have higher grade point averages than students who don't participate.
At the June 23 School Board meeting, Incoming Activities Director Dr. Kristina Martin gave a report on the Athletic/Activities Program in the district. Here are a few of the facts that she shared:
- 964 students were involved in one or more MSHSAA sponsored activities during the 2021-22 school year.
- Students who participate in MSHSAA activities have higher grade point averages than students who do not participate.
- Seven teams/activities qualified for the MSHSAA Outstanding Academic Achievement Award (team GPA of 3.5 to 4.0), and 16 teams qualified for the Distinguished Academic Achievement Award (team GPA of 3.0 to 3.49).
- Student clubs raised over $20,000 for scholarships and Special Olympics.
- State champions: Cheerleading and Storytelling.
- All-State athletes in eight different sports.
- Tied the school record number of All-State Choir participants
- Speech and debate: multiple top-five state awards, one state champion, and national qualifiers in numerous events.
- Girls golf competed as a team at state for the first time.
- Services provided by Ray-Pec athletic trainers saved families nearly $151,000 in treatment value, if sought elsewhere.
