The Ray-Pec School District is seeking nominations for the 2024 Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Employee of the Year. The award finalists will be honored in the spring.
Anyone may nominate a teacher by submitting a letter of nomination by Jan. 19. A candidate must:
Be a full-time teacher, librarian, or counselor.
Be returning to teach in 2024-25 in the District.
Have completed 3 or more years teaching at Ray-Pec.
Be effective and innovative in the classroom.
For the Support Staff award, you may nominate a full-time or part-time employee who has worked at least one year for the District. The deadline is also Jan. 19.
Examples of eligible employees include: accompanist, accounts payable, BOOST before and after school care, buildings and grounds, child nutrition, crossing guards, finance employees, lunch monitors, media assistants, nurses, paraprofessionals, payroll, safety and security, secretaries, teacher aides, and technology employees.

Congrats to the Ray-Pec High School Boys Basketball Team on placing 3rd in the 77th Annual Carthage Invitational Tournament Dec. 7-9. Ashton Jermain and Cannon Northcraft were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Five Ray-Pec DECA students attended and competed at the 2023 AdZou Challenge held by the Missouri School of Journalism on Dec. 4 on the Mizzou campus. Students learned about the field of strategic communications and took part in a statewide advertising competition. The Ray-Pec team received the team award for Best Team Research. The Lady Panthers came away with a dominant win in their first home game of the season. They'll look to make it three in a row tomorrow night as they're back on the road at Blue Springs High School.
The Ray-Pec Speech and Debate team had an outstanding weekend Dec. 1-2 in Independence. The Varsity Team competed at William Chrisman High School, and Ray-Pec had champions in four events!
Natalie Kies was the tournament champion in both Original Oratory and Lincoln Douglas Debate. In Dramatic Interpretation, Sav Jordan was the tournament champion, Irelynn Sloan placed 2nd, and Amy Robinson placed 5th. In Duo interpretation, Tre Hill and Noah Tuttle were tournament champions, Irelynn Sloan and Elijah O'Brien placed 2nd, and Mason Rew and Jordan Kim placed 3rd.
The Novice Team went to Van Horn High School, where Quinn Sellami and Reed Collison placed 3rd in Public Forum Debate. In Storytelling, Lilley Gaston placed 2nd and Ava Gawron placed 4th. In Humorous Interpretation, Kaiden Herrera placed 6th.
The LEAD Center would like to invite the community, faculty, staff and students to their fall Student Showcase. The come and go event is Wednesday, December 6 from 4:30-6:30 at the LEAD Center. All students will be showcasing their experience.
Girls' Swimming is hosting their first meet of the season today at High Blue Wellness! The meet starts at 4:00 pm, as they take on Lee's Summit West High School and Summit Christian Academy. 🏊♀️

RP Sings, the Choirs of Ray-Pec, would like to invite all students, grades 5-12 to participate in our RP Select Day 2024. This is an amazing day where all can come together to sing. This event is hosted at Ray-Pec High School and is free of charge.

Congratulations to Ray-Pec High School Senior Riley Zimmerman on being selected 3rd chair trombone in the Missouri Bandmasters All-State Band. More than 1,200 students from across the state auditioned for one of the 106 spots in the All-State Band. Riley will perform at the Missouri Music Educator Association’s conference in January 2024.
