Transportation and Bell Schedules

I want to thank you all for your patience and grace as we work to improve our current bus situation. We will continue to work on what we can control within our building to help. To ensure that students are not missing instructional time in content areas when buses arrive later than expected, we will be making an adjustment to our bell schedule. Moving forward, advisory lessons will take place as an extended part of first period. We will begin using this schedule on Monday, August 28th and it will be our schedule for Monday through Friday.

Preview Day Recap

On Friday, August 18th, the Ninth Grade Center hosted a preview day for our students to visit the building and meet some of their teachers. Our students got the chance to work with members of Ray Pec High School's Student Leadership Team and to talk about what it means to be a Panther. During my opportunity to speak with the student body in attendance, my message focused on the purpose of school and the two of the pillars for our school: Respect and Responsibility.

For the purpose of school, one of the things we talked about was how taking advantage of education can provide a student with opportunities. When students leave our school and eventually leave RPHS, we want them to have the opportunity to pursue the endeavors of their choice, whether that be college, skilled trades, military, or straight to the workforce. There is a Chinese Proverb that says, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” For our students, this is the first step in that journey.

The pillars of respect and responsibility will be a focus throughout the school year as we work with our students. We talked about respect in terms of respecting others, property, and ourselves. I challenged students to go out of their way each day to make someone else’s day better. We also talked about being responsible for being where we need to be and for putting our best effort into everything we do and persevering through challenges. If our students can learn how to put forth great effort and persevere in the face of adversity, they will be nearly unstoppable in the pursuit of their dreams.
